Walter James Hart III was born and raised in Detroit, MI, in a challenging environment where many young people felt trapped by their circumstances. Growing up in a broken home and losing his father to the U.S. prison system, Walter faced numerous obstacles from an early age. Despite these challenges, Walter was determined to break the cycle he saw affecting so many around him. With the support of mentors and a renewed passion for education, Walter decided to take action and founded Peace Detroit, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering underprivileged youth in his hometown.
Now a graduate of San Francisco State University with a degree in Sociology and currently pursuing his Master’s in Social Work at Barry University in Miami, Walter is committed to expanding his mission internationally. This vision led to the evolution of Peace Detroit into Peace Global, reflecting a broader commitment to uplifting young people worldwide by equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in a global society.Peace Global focuses on developing the global capabilities of youth starting in 9th grade, teaching them about global etiquette, credibility, and the arts while emphasizing financial literacy and community service. Walter’s journey from personal adversity to becoming a mentor and leader in his community has inspired volunteers to work together to provide education, mentorship, and support to young people in need. With the guidance of the board of directors, Peace Global develops programs that fulfill its mission and serve as a beacon of hope for young people everywhere.
